I moved to West Michigan with my wife, Rachel, son, Rhodes, and daughter, Daisy in the spring of 2024; leaving behind the Flathead Valley in Northwest Montana where we had lived the past three years. During our time in Montana, my wife graduated from Northwestern and found a home at Spot to Talk where she gained her license as a Certified Mental Health Counselor with a focus in Child Centered Play Therapy. I stuck to what I know best, having fun, and started 406 Lacrosse with my friend Nate.
Lacrosse is such an incredible sport for so many reasons and one of my favorites is that it opens doors to participate in things outside of typical opportunities while teaching life lessons. Our mission with 406 Lacrosse was two-fold. First, teach our athletes how to be men of good character; and second, develop their lacrosse skills and abilities so that we could help them get recruited to whatever college or university best suited them. We took kids to the Denver Shootout, Oregon Lacrosse Classic, flew in my old coach and players from PBAU for a camp and really started to build a strong culture.
Then along came Mr. Rhodes and suddenly having to make several flight connections just to see Grandma and our cousins for a weekend in Chicago, or Grand Haven just wasn’t making sense. So, we started looking for homes and found a wonderful place in Rockford. I didn’t want to just disappear from lacrosse so I shot a few emails out including one that made its way to Chris Gervat. A beer turned to two and suddenly what was going to be just a coaching gig quickly developed into a friendship that led to bigger thinking on what we can bring to the community together.
I am proud to be a part of bringing to you Team Michigan.

I made Michigan home 16 years ago and never thought I'd be here now with Alison, Brooks, and Blake. I absolutely love everything about this state, this area. I made the move from Long Island New York, and as much as I miss the pizza and the bagels, you can't beat a Michigan summer.
I've been hitting the ground running with lacrosse in many different ways over the past 20+ in coaching. From coaching on Long Island, Davenport University, Michigan State University, and a couple of HS in the mix, I now oversee the player and coaching development for Rockford Youth Lacrosse, where my two boys currently play.
Travel sports and travel teams are broken. They're broken in what they are trying to accomplish. Once you figure out this isn't about lacrosse, everything else falls into place. This is about the growth of the young man. This is about building confidence, setting goals, and feeling what success feels like. Being a part of something bigger than yourself. This is about holding the coaches and the players accountable and being intentional with our time and energy.
My life was changed by great teachers and mentors. It's our job to pass the torch, help raise these kids, help train the next generation of coaches to change someone elses life. To make them smile. We have the chance to impact the next generation, and we will not take that responsibility lightly.
We truly care about Grand Rapids and the state of Michigan. We want to put Grand Rapids back on the map for great lacrosse. This why we created Team Michigan.
This doesn't stop with just our kids in our programs. We'll continue to outreach to improve lacrosse to GR and the state of Michigan.

Born and raised in Grand Haven, MI, I currently live in GH with my beautiful wife and our cats. I
attended Grand Haven High School, where I excelled in football, wrestling, and lacrosse,
earning all-state honors in all three sports. Chris Gervat recruited me to play lacrosse at
Davenport University, where I became an All-American, a four-year starter, a three-year
captain, and set the ground ball record. At Davenport, I met my wife Hannah and many lifelong
friends, including Jarred.
Lacrosse has been my lifeline through the toughest times, especially after the loss of my best
friend, Jarred Coleman. His memory fuels my passion for coaching and my dedication to
teaching. I strive to keep Jarred’s message alive, focusing on what truly matters in building the
BEST team. He taught me the importance of pushing teammates to be the best versions of
themselves, always being there for one another, and that being the best player means little if
you’re not a good teammate.
I coach because I want to be the kind of coach and role model I had growing up. My goal is to
equip these young men with the tools they need to succeed in all areas of life, on the field and
in their relationships. My mom always said it takes a community to raise a child, and I know I
wouldn’t be the player, coach, friend, and husband I am today without the guidance of the
coaches and role models from my sporting journey.
I am a proud Michigan man, and I can’t wait to build the best team Michigan can offer, helping
these kids become the best versions of themselves!!!!

To me, lacrosse is more than a sport. It’s a way of life that has shaped who I am, how I think, and how I move through the world.
The game is unpredictable and unforgiving missed shots, turnovers under pressure, brutal checks, and runs that can swing in seconds. There were days it would have been easier to quit, but the sport forced me to get back up, reset, and keep going. It taught me that setbacks are temporary, and mental toughness comes from pushing through discomfort. That same grit now helps me navigate tough times at work, difficult conversations, or any obstacle life throws my way. I’ve learned that nothing worthwhile comes easy, and the ability to bounce back stronger is a superpower that lasts a lifetime.
Caelin Lewis
2029 Offensive Coordinator
Forest Hills Eastern Assistant Coach
Raised in the greater Seattle area, where lacrosse was not traditionally a focal point among youth sports, I was initially immersed in athletics such as football, basketball, and baseball. However, after being introduced to lacrosse at a young age by a neighbor, I quickly developed a passion for the game that has shaped my athletic and personal journey.
Coming from a non-traditional lacrosse region, I understand the unique challenges and opportunities faced by athletes outside of established “hotbed” areas. This perspective allows me to connect with and mentor young players who aspire to compete at the collegiate level, emphasizing the dedication, discipline, and work ethic required to achieve those goals.
My coaching philosophy centers on using lacrosse as a vehicle for personal growth. While I have a deep love for the game, I also believe in its broader impact: fostering lifelong friendships, strengthening community ties, and encouraging creativity and problem-solving both on and off the field. Discipline and a strong work ethic remain foundational values in my approach.
Lacrosse has been a defining part of my life, and I continue to reflect on the lessons it has taught me through my own experiences, as well as the guidance of mentors and coaches in my journey.

Being from Michigan my whole life has been nothing short of a blessing as there is no other place l'd rather call home. Since starting my lacrosse journey in 4th grade, the game has been a huge part of my life and has provided me with experiences that will never be forgotten.
Coaching is something that has given me the opportunity to give back to the game and community that have helped grow me into the person I am today. Growing up and playing in Michigan shaped who I am, both as a player and a person, and I am super excited for the chance to help the build this program and provide the next generation with the same experience and knowledge that was passed down to me.

Born and Raised in Rockford, Michigan. I am currently a sophomore at Grand Valley State University pursuing a degree in general business. I play goalie at GVSU and after our loss in the national championship last year, I am eager to get back, dominate, and win that ring. I currently live in an apartment on campus with my roommates and my cat Cheddar. Chris Gervat coached me throughout my youth lacrosse seasons and is someone I look up to as a leader, and someone I want to be like as I become more of an adult. I have built many friendships and relationships through lacrosse and it has consumed me in the best way possible. I try to push everyone around me to be better every single day, in anything they do. I was ecstatic to receive the opportunity to coach at Team Michigan and I can’t wait to work with these young athletes and teach them how to grow as men on and off the lacrosse field!
